It's What We Do

Our lives are somewhat interesting, to say the least. People quite frequently ask what life is like, and there is no easy approach to that answer unless you know us pretty well. The pictures above give a little detail. On an average day, we feed the horses and chickens about three times (morning, afternoon, and evening), we go hunting for eggs (our humorous chickens lay in hidden spots around the farm), we inspect the eggs (notice the record breaking egg above that we found today), we play on the farm, work the wood stove, and occasionally we shoot stuff.
One of the pictures above is of a small field the girls and I turned over this afternoon. Later planted the field and finished leveling it in the dark. Time to get the pastures worked before the snow falls. Another picture up there is of our fabulous wood stove, love it!! Yes, the wood still has to be split, some of it anyway. Then there is a picture of my most favorite-new found tool, the belt sander. Coolest tool ever, has made the finishing process on the bar, much more exciting. The last interesting picture up there is yes, a dead animal, a opossum. Last night while relaxing over a cup of coffee, we watched this little critter make his way up to the house. Mike was going to just watch it until I asked him what he was waiting for, "shoot it for goodness sakes, shoot it!!" Hope thought it was the ugliest animal ever, we couldn't disagree much.
At least once a week, we make a venture to the local farm store to say hello and get needed supplies, we try to make that trip on the day that Mary is in, we really like her. The girls have also become regulars and professionals at grocery shopping. Our new Olsens store has mini-carts for kids, they are the greatest things ever, Hope has a blast helping with the shopping. The shopping trips help our culinary habits, we really like to cook and eat of course. Little Hopester is becoming a great cook and a little miss betty crocker. She pulls up a chair to the counter almost daily to help me cook. Thanks to my mom, I inherited a decent knack for cooking.
